The challenge
Hydro Tasmania Consulting has recently constructed new office premises in Cambridge, near Hobart. The premises required the interlinking of audio visual technologies to be used for meetings within and between offices, as well as training purposes.

The solution
To give the office space maximum functionality, KWMC installed the following equipment:

  • Projectors with motorised screens that automatically operate, requiring minimum involvement from the operator
  • IP and ISDN Videoconferencing Systems in meeting rooms and boardrooms, to enable efficient, face-to-face communication between some of Hydro’s 800+ staff members and their clients
  • Printable whiteboards to document discussions from meetings and training
  • Large LCD TVs and DVD players in training rooms, staffrooms and breakout spaces
  • Conference telephone communications
  • Lecterns and microphones for formal presentations
  • A multi-zone and expandable public address system capable of broadcasting throughout flexible training spaces.

The cornerstone of the AV equipment is the AMX control system. The control system is a wall-mounted, 5” full colour touch screen. The touch screen enables control over videoconferencing, projectors, screens, audio control and AV switching. This greatly simplifies the operation of the equipment and ensures it seamlessly operates within the building, despite the technical aspects of the different technologies.

The Results
Communication via videoconferencing means that face-to-face communication over distance is now commonplace, enabling more efficient communication between staff members. This eliminates some unwarranted travel, saving time and costs.

Hydro Tasmania Consulting have also taken up a Scheduled Preventative Maintenance Agreement with KWMC, which ensures that their system is always operational, being an integral part of their day-to-day operations.

By planning for the interlinking of technologies prior to the construction of their premises, Hydro Tasmania Consulting has been able to save a considerable amount of time and money. Our technicians were able to install cabling and mechanical infrastructures during construction without having to deal with existing clad walls and ceilings.

Hydro Tasmania Consulting have also “future-proofed” their investment, as KWMC considered the current and future needs of the premises, making future upgrades simple and cost effective.
